Awards Issued by the Chicago Section
The 75th Anniversary of the Chicago Section was held on May 20, 2000. As part of the celebration, 75 people were nominated to the Honor Roll for Engineering Accomplishments by Chemical Engineers in the Chicago area. The Thiele Award recognizes the outstanding contributions to our profession by a Midwest region chemical engineer.
The McCormack Awards are given to one chemical engineering undergraduate student at Northwestern University, University of Illinois, and Illinois Institute of Technology each year based on a combination of excellence in study, research, and extra-curricular activities.
Poster Session Awards are given to one graduate and one undergraduate participating in the student poster session held at the April monthly meeting.

- 1998 - $200 Grant from AIChE National for Programming Heinman Impact Award for Outreach to Students
- 1997 - Best section newsletter award
Nominations Requested for the Ernest W. Thiele Award
The Ernest W. Thiele award is sponsored by BP and recognizes the outstanding contributions to our profession by a Midwest region chemical engineer. This award was established by the AIChE Chicago Section and is presented annually to a Midwest region AIChE member. This internationally recognized award consists of an engraved plaque and $1000 honorarium presented at our sectional meeting.
