Our May meeting will be held at Capri Ristorante in Burr Ridge with an optional pre-dinner tour at the nearby DuPage Country Knollwood Plant (also in Burr Ridge). After dinner Richard Novak, Assistant Director of Program Development at Praxair, will give a talk on “Reducing Emission of Volatile Organic Chemicals in Industrial Wastewater Treatment: Modeling and Case Study of High Purity Oxygen Biological Treatment”. UPDATE: As there is limited parking at the Wastewater Treatment Plant those taking the tour may want to get to the restaurant by 4:15 and carpool to the Plant and back.

Come join us at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) this Wednesday, April 10th, for our annual student poster competition and lecture “State of the Union on the Chemical Engineering: Market Trends and Career Tips for the New Grad up to the Senior Engineer”.
Whether you are a new college grad this year or an engineer that has been in the market for many years, understanding the current engineering market is important to your career growth and the well-being of your family. This presentation will give an overview of current market for chemical engineers. Topics to be discussed includes history of the recent job market, the types of jobs that are hot, and the future trends for those positions. The current salaries and the demographics for amounts will also be discussed.

Our March meeting will be at Abbott Labs in Abbott Park, IL on March 13th. Please be aware that due to security requirements that anyone who did not register online will not be able to attend the meeting. Abbott security will require the list of attendees at least 24 hours in advance so registration will close at 12pm on Tuesday, March 12th, with a maximum of 80 attendees. Whether you couldn’t make it or want to relive some memories come check out our picture gallery for the 2013 AIChE Midwest Regional Conference that was held Jan 31 – Feb 1.
Rather than our usual monthly meetings this February 24th will be our annual AIChE Chicago social outing. Come join us at Pinstripes in Oak Brook for food, drinks, and bowling from 2 to 5:30pm. The cost will be $30 for adults, $15 for children 12 and under: this includes pizza, salads, dessert, soft drinks and more. A cash bar will also be available.
